Tramonti experience
To truly grasp the essence of a place, one must delve into its history and uncover its authentic soul. For those who are passionate about genuine exploration, understanding the secrets of the locales they visit is essential. An exploration into Amalfi’s rich history takes one along the Path of the 13 Churches (Tramonti experience), meandering through the villages of Tramonti, considered one of Amalfi’s prized gems.
Venturing a bit further inland, yet still keeping close to the crystalline waters of the coast, reveals hidden treasures often overlooked by mass tourism. Among these gems is Tramonti, renowned for lending its name to the Tramontana wind, as the people of Amalfi referred to the winds from these lands by this term.
Tramonti distinguishes itself through its unique territorial organization. In contrast to many historical urban centers, which typically consist of a central village surrounded by smaller hamlets, Tramonti was structured with thirteen hamlets arranged in a circular fashion around the Santa Maria Hill.
Each hamlet boasted its own church, square, and fountain. Today, the 13 churches in these hamlets remain intact, offering a captivating glimpse into the evocative history of these areas.
The Path of the 13 Churches winds its way through a portion of these villages, providing an opportunity to visit remarkably old churches with medieval origins, adding a historical dimension to the exploration of this enchanting region.
Tramonti experience will start from the Borgo di Campinola and end our vistit at the Borgo di Paterno Sant’Elia. At the end of a beautiful route surrounded by nature there will be a tasting of typical products.
